Job Opportunity: Sign Maker/ Installer
As a Sign Maker at Peninsula Signs Ltd., you will be a part of a growing business that values its working relationships above all else. With an artistic yet technical eye, your efforts in our production department will help to support the company’s growth, which in turn builds a better future for you and everyone on the team.
What you’ll do
- Design and create signs using various materials and tools
- Collaborate with clients to determine their specific signage needs
- Provide design recommendations to clients based on their branding and messaging
- Ensure all signs are completed accurately and within the specified timeframe
- Install signs at the client’s location, including proper anchoring, using lumber, aluminum posts and concrete
- Conduct site surveys to assess potential installation challenges and provide solutions
- Maintain and repair existing signs as needed
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and new sign-making technologies
- Cut, shape and prepare materials like wood, plastics, aluminum and composites;
- Prepare prints and cut films as components for signs, displays, vehicle lettering, window
or wall displays, boat names and more; - Apply adhesive backed films and cut vinyl to substrates, vehicles, boats and aircraft
What you bring
- We’d like one year of sign shop experience, but if you have similar skills, let’s talk!
- Solid understanding of sign design fundamentals (typography, space, colour and scale);
- Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop Creative Cloud;
- Comfortable in a shop setting, using power and hand tools;
- Some basic construction and woodworking experience;
- Excellent observation, communication and interpersonal skills;
- A keen eye for the tiniest of details; and
- A creative and collaborative spirit.
